About DV Aviation

We Don't Just Fly You.
We Know You.

Founded in 2015 in Midland, Texas by a pilot who still flies every mission. This is not a faceless corporate charter firm. It's personal.

Our Founder

Russell Maxey

"DV Aviation is built to exceed the expectations of those who value a premium private jet travel experience but prefer the flexibility afforded to them by on-demand charter."

Russell is both the owner and a lead pilot — a rarity in private aviation that matters for trust. With 26 years of flying experience, 6,500+ avg flight hours, and an ATP rating, he personally flies missions and runs the company.

He's not in an office somewhere. He's on the ramp, in the cockpit, and on the phone at 4 AM when a client's commercial flight gets canceled. His philosophy is simple: if he can't put somebody in an airplane with the assurance it's going to get on the ground safely, then nobody gets in the airplane. Period.

Our Story

Built in the Permian Basin.
Flying the Western Hemisphere.

Where We Started

DV Aviation was founded in 2015 in Midland, Texas — the heart of the Permian Basin. What began as a commitment to provide genuine, personal private aviation has grown into a full-service operation covering charter, aircraft management, maintenance, acquisition, and component services.

Our headquarters, Hangar|ONE, sits at 8818 W Hwy 80, Midland, TX. We also maintain operations in San Antonio.

How We've Grown

In 2024, we acquired Deer Horn Aviation, adding charter capabilities. In 2025, Basin Aviation joined the family, expanding our Part 135 charter operations. All charter flights are now operated by Basin Aviation, a DV Aviation company, under FAA Part 135 Certificate No. GYWA560E.

Today, Russell's vision hasn't changed: "I don't care where you are. You have a request. I will fulfill that request."

What We Stand For

Three Pillars. One Standard.

Safety

Zero accidents on our FAA record. We surpass regulations, not just meet them. Rigorous maintenance protocols, real-time aircraft health monitoring, third-party audits, and double-checked inspections before every flight. Our pilots average 6,500 hours and train continuously — including emergency simulations.

Transparency

Clear, itemized estimates before booking. No hidden fees, no surprise surcharges for fuel or catering or last-minute changes. Pre-flight briefings and 24/7 real-time assistance. You always know what you're paying for and what's happening with your aircraft.

Control

Change your itinerary the night before — no pushback. Choose your departure time, your airport, your cabin setup. Aircraft owners get full management visibility: crew schedules, maintenance updates, cost reporting. Your journey, your way.

Industry Perspective

Where Private Aviation Is Heading

The Post-COVID Shift

Everyone wanted to fly private for safety. Then they discovered the real benefit: time. The demand hasn't gone back — it's evolved.

New Ownership Models

Partnerships, fractional groups, creative sharing arrangements — the industry is opening up beyond traditional full ownership.

Breaking the Rules

"The industry has always said, here's the rule book. We need to shift our focus and say, that tells us what we can't do. Now we need to write the rules on what we can do."

Growth Strategy

Near-term growth is in real service. Long-term growth is in creative niches. "If you can't grow out, grow up. If you can't grow up, grow out."
